Get to Know 'The Walking Dead: Dead City' Star Mahina Napoleon with 10 Fun Facts! (Exclusive)

Mahina Napoleon has an exciting new role in the new series The Walking Dead: Dead City!

The young actress, who you may also know from NCIS: Hawai’i as Vanessa Lachey‘s daughter Julie, will be starring alongside longtime The Walking Dead stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the latest spinoff of the hit AMC series.

In the upcoming show, Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) as they travel into Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.

Ginny (Napoleon) has already experienced a lot in life, living in a post-apocalyptic world, experiencing the loss of both parents, and losing her voice which died alongside her father. Now, navigating the obstacles of this new world, she grows attached to Negan in hopes of survival.

Ahead of the series premiere, we caught up with Mahina and got to know 10+ Fun Facts about her.

  • 1. I am what we call in HawaiÊ»i a “Poi Dog,” which means I have many different ethnicities. I am of Native Hawaiian, Filipino, Chinese, Spanish, English, Irish, Dutch, German, and Scottish descent. I am very proud to be able to represent all of my cultures in what I do.
  • 2. My family and I love to travel! We have traveled to numerous countries and states. The fun fact is that we like collecting magnets from everywhere we visit. Our refrigerators are full of great reminders of all the wonderful adventures we have had as a family.
  • 3. I have been involved in performing arts since I was four years old. I have had the opportunity to perform in multiple musicals, including The Wiz, Shrek the Musical, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Moana, Hairspray, SpongeBob the Musical, Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief, and more. The stage is like my second home.
  • 4. I love to sing. I truly have been singing my entire life. I walk around school singing; I love to perform. I have been asked to sing the national anthem at multiple sporting events, and I hope to pursue a career in singing. My go-to song right now is “Part of Your World” from the new live action The Little Mermaid because I LOVE THE MOVIE, and since it just came out, it is all I can think about.
  • 5. Even though I am from HawaiÊ»i, where we donÊ»t get much snow… one of my favorite things to do is snowboarding. My favorite place to snowboard is Whistler.
  • 6. I may be an only child, but I come from a HUGE family. I have tons of cousins that are like my big extended siblings!
  • 7. I have an amazing rescue dog named Noelle Princess Bella. Funny Fact: She is a vegetarian.
  • 7. I never walk anywhere. I only jump, dance, run, skip, tumble, hop, sing, spin everywhere I go.
  • 9. I am the youngest cousin in my family, and I live with the oldest cousin in my family. And we both are successful actors. Tune in for more.
  • 10. I love to eat… everything. Literally, everything. My favorite food would probably be Pasteles, Sushi, Summer Rolls, Poke, Panic, Poi, Laulau, Hawaiian food… you get the point…
  • 12. I attend a Native Hawaiian school, Kamehameha Schools. Everyone at my school is part Hawaiian, and we all take Hawaiian Language and Hawaiian culture classes as a part of our curriculum. I am also on the honor roll!
  • 12. I am super excited that I just made the cheer team at my school. We have a championship-winning team, and I can’t wait to be a part of the team this coming school year.
  • 13. I am a major water baby. I love surfing, swimming, going out on the boat with my family, hanging out in my pool. All things water!
