Who is Spider's Mother in 'Avatar 2'? Actor Jack Champion Responds to Theories

One of the unanswered mysteries in the new movie Avatar: The Way of Water is the identity of Spider’s mother.

Jack Champion plays the human child who was left behind on Pandora because he was too young to travel back to Earth with the rest of the humans.

We quickly learn in the film that Spider, whose real name is Miles Socorro, is the son of Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), who returns in the sequel as a Recombinant.

So, who is his mother?

The information is part of the comic book “Avatar: The High Ground.”

Spider’s mother is Paz Socorro, who was a Scorpion pilot in Quaritch’s squad. She died during the assault on the Tree of Souls and her son became an orphan. Miles was raised by other humans living on Pandora and eventually became part of the Sully family.

In an interview with THR, Jack was asked, “Is his mother still considered to be Paz Socorro from that ‘Avatar: The High Ground’ comic? Is that canon?”

Jack responded, “I honestly don’t know. If it’s an official Avatar comic, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be canon, but I’ll have to ask Jim.”
