Stephanie Bissonnette, who was one of the original stars in the Mean Girls musical on Broadway, has tragically died at the young age of 32.
The announcement was made by the Mean Girls Broadway social media page.
“Our hearts are broken as the Mean Girls community mourns the loss of Stephanie Bissonnette,” the post read. “Our original Dawn Sweitzer, Stephanie was part of our company from our first performance to our last. She filled our theater with her laughter and friendship, inspired us with her fighting spirit and bravery, and graced our stage with the fiercest talent Broadway has ever know. Our thoughts and prayers are with Stephanie’s family, friends, and the entire Mean Girls community during this time. We will miss her profoundly and encourage everyone to do something they love today in Stephanie’s honor.”

She passed away on Saturday (December 17) after battling brain cancer.
Deadline reports that she was newly performing with the show in 2018 when she learned she had a brain tumor in 2019. She reportedly left the show to undergo treatment and returned after treatment.
