Avengers: Endgame is making history!
The highly anticipated Marvel superhero film grossed $156.7 million Friday (April 26) in North America, with an estimated debut of $340 million – $1 billion globally – according to The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday (April 27).
Each of those stats will break a new record: 2018′s Avengers: Infinity War previously held the record for largest global opening ($640.5 million) and domestic debut ($257.6 million).
Star Wars: The Force Awakens previously held the title for biggest single day when it took in $119 million on its first Friday back in 2015.
The movie is currently playing at 4,662 theaters in North America, which marks the widest release for a movie ever.
