Kylie Cantrall is opening about the Descendants franchise!

The 20-year-old actress and singer stars as Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, in Descendants: The Rise of Red and the upcoming Descendants: Wicked Wonderland.

In a new feature for Seventeen‘s “Every Fandom Has Its Favorite” digital cover story, Kylie dished on the franchise’s fandom, OG fans watching the new version of Descendants, and even who her character’s dad is.

On knowing a secret detail about Red’s backstory

“Disney actually brought me in for a secret meeting to explain who Red’s father is, and it completely blew my mind. I promised I’d never reveal it, but let’s just say…it ties into the franchise in a really unexpected way. Tea.”

On stepping into a huge fandom

“I read the script before auditioning, so I already knew fans would connect with it. I was the perfect age when the first movie came out—I was 8, and I completely fell in love with the idea that we’d be bringing it back for a new generation, but along with that, I definitely understood the responsibility I’d have to take on pushing forward such a beloved franchise.”

On what she hopes the OG Descendants fans feel when they watch the latest version

“I think the nostalgia comes from the world that was created in the first three films, and our version stays true to that. You still have the bright, bigger-than-life costumes, high-energy musical numbers, heroes versus villains, and wigs so long, they deserve their own trailer.”

On if she’s read fan comments before the movie was released

“Of course—it’s so hard not to. My friends and family were even sending me links like, ‘Kylie Jenner in her PJs singing ‘Red’ with Stormi!’ and I was like…okay, yeah, super casual. I was freaking out.”

Disney has unveiled the first look at their upcoming animated feature Hexed!

The teaser trailer introduces audiences to the impulsive and unconventional teenage girl Billie (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld) and her cautious mother Alice (voiced by Rashida Jones).

Hexed synopsis revealed

When Billie accidentally unleashes secret magical abilities, she’s hurtled out of suburbia and into a magical realm called Hexe, where she’s greeted by Ms. Quill and Elias Quire. As Billie’s spectacle-filled journey unfolds, she discovers family mysteries that could change the magical world of witches forever.

The upcoming movie also features the voices of Tracey Ullman as the enchanted feather quill pen Ms Quill, and Stephen Fry as the magical journal Elias Quire.

“A wonderfully strange phenomenon is happening all around Billie, something she can’t explain. She’s someone who has felt miscast in her own life, and it takes leaving her normal world behind and entering a hidden world of wild, unhinged magic to begin to understand herself.” – director Fawn Veerasunthorn

Hexed marks the 65th animated movie from Walt Disney Animation Studios, and is set to hit theaters on November 25th!

The swamp crew is back for a new adventure in the Shrek 5 teaser trailer!

Shrek, Fiona and Donkey are coming back to movie screens in 2027 for the next installment in the hit franchise, and we finally have more of a look at what’s to come.

Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy are reprising their voice roles in the movie, with Zendaya, Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo joining as the voices of Shrek and Fiona’s children, Felicia, Fergus and Farkle.

“Once upon a time, a hideous ogre and a delusional donkey embarked on a journey to the magical city of Further Further Away,” the narrator says at the start of the clip.

Donkey excitedly interrupts, saying, “Oh my god, it’s happening. It’s really happening. Do you know what that means? I need a makeover. Get my arms yolked in my backjack, my ass added. Maybe even tighten up my bodon.”

Shrek responds, “No, definitely not.”

Shrek 5 was confirmed to be in the works in April 2023, and it will finally hit theaters on June 30, 2027!

While Zendaya‘s Felicia is not included in the new teaser trailer, you can see a first look at her character from early 2025!

The Heartstopper Forever trailer is finally here!

Kit Connor, Joe Locke and the whole gang is back for the upcoming final movie to wrap up the story of their characters.

In the trailer, we also hear Olivia Rodrigo‘s “Stupid Song,” marking the first ever use of the new track from her recently released album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. If you recall, Joe and Olivia are actually really good friends, and the track is also inspired by a book!

What Heartstopper Forever is about

Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?

In addition to the trailer being released, Netflix also debuted the post and several new stills, which includes first looks at new additions to the cast.

Heartstopper Forever is slated to release on July 17th on Netflix.

Maxwell Acee Donovan, Callie Haverda and Reyn Doi step out for the premiere event of their brand new series Road to Healing!

The That ’90s Show stars are among the cast of the new short form project, which just debuted over the weekend, and they celebrated on Saturday night (June 13) in Studio City.

Also in attendance were co-stars Clare Margaret Donovan, Haley Grace McCormick, Kale Culley, Claire Ruffin, Maya Boyce, Jennifer Sun Bell, Peyton Woolf, Valery Ortiz, Maurice Hall, and Tasha Ames.

Descendants stars Sarah Jeffery, Dianne Doan and Sofia Carson, with sister Paulina Char, also stepped out to show their support for the show, which stars their longtime friend Maya and is produced by her and mom Libby Boyce.

Road to Healing was created by Maxwell and Clare, and comes from their production banner MAD in Hollywood, which was founded by them with their mom Erin Acee Donovan, and the late Cameron Boyce’s mom Libby and sister Maya.

What is Road to Healing about?

The short form comedy follows a group of driving instructors navigating the chaos of their students’ lives while trying to manage their own.

Also starring includes Kyle Secor, Raphael Luce, Ashley Aufderheide and Matisha Baldwin.

“Road to Healing was born out of the absurdity of driving instructors putting their lives in the hands of strangers learning to drive. The result is a relatable and unhinged comedy full of flawed characters, unexpected heart and complete chaos,” Maxwell and Clare shared in a statement.

“Road to Healing was so much fun to make. It is the first project for MAD in Hollywood Productions, a partnership between two entertainment families. In addition to an amazing cast and crew, we had a fully sustainable set and only generated one bag of trash to show it CAN be done by this industry.” Libby Boyce and Erin Acee Donovan add.

The new series also marks the directorial debut of Maxwell, and features eight, five to seven minute long episodes, which are all currently available to watch on the Road to Healing YouTube channel.

The romantic drama Every Year After already has tons of fans rooting for its main couples and we have the scoop on what to expect from Sam (Matt Cornett) and Percy (Sadie Soverall) should the series nab a season 2 renewal!

Spoilers ahead for Every Year After season 1, episode 8

Showrunner Amy B. Harris chatted with TheWrap about the cliffhanger at the end of the season that left the door open for reconciliation between Sam and Percy after overcoming some serious drama earlier in the show.

By the end of the episode and a time skip, it looked like they might be on their way to getting back together.

Harris said she hopes fans see him returning to the Tavern at the end as “a happy ending for Sam and Percy, or the possibility of a happy ending,” but adds that “happy endings are just the beginning — they have a lot of work to do to be a couple.”

“Time has passed — they’re not the same people that they were when they were 18, and even though they’re in love with each other, they have to learn a lot about each other now and who they are as adults,” Harris told TheWrap. “In the writers’ room, I always would say, ‘It’s not a matter of will-they-won’t-they now; it’s how will they?’ I don’t think it’s fully resolved yet although I think they want it to work.”

Disney has just released the official version of “Perfect Princess” from the upcoming Descendants: Wicked Wonderland!

The new song, largely featuring stars Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker, seemingly appears as the opening track for the fifth Descendants movie, which debus later this summer.

Kylie (Red) and Malia (Chloe) open the track, followed by Rita Ora (Queen of Hearts), Brandy (Cinderella) and Liamani Segura (Pink).

The release of the official song comes nearly two months after members of the cast performed a special Disneyland Park version of the track on American Idol!

As Red, Chloe and Pink head to school, more new cast members join in on the song!

In the video, we see Alexandro Byrd (Luis Madrigal) and Joel Oulette (Robbie Hood), followed by Brendon Tremblay (Max Hatter), Zavien Garrett (Felix Facilier), Kiara Romero (Hazel Hook), and last but not least, Ryan McEwen (Squirmy Smee) and Dayton Paradis (Squeaky Smee).

As the song goes on, Red and Chloe sing about the consequences of altering the fabric of time.

What is Descendants: Wicked Wonderland about?

Now that the Queen of Hearts is nice and Cinderella is safe, things seem perfect for Red and Chloe … but little do they know that changing the past created a new villain: Maddox Hatter. When Maddox captures the Queen of Hearts, Red and Chloe must work with Red’s new sister Pink, Luisa Madrigal’s son Luis, Captain Hook’s daughter Hazel, and Maddox’s son Max to save her and Wonderland.
